I am in the process of rebuilding the governor on my TE-20. I am at the point where the crankshaft starting jaw must come off. How does one do this? The motor turns over when I turn the wrench.I am hesitant to turn too much until I know exactly what I should expect. I know someone out there has the answer.

I have a few q's and hope that someone may be able to answer them.Thanx
A friend has a te 20 that is leaking diesel quite badly - possibly as a result of the recent change by this countries (AUS) politicians, to the low sulfur fuel ( the machine was not leaking 1 month ago. Does anyone know of a product that will soften the seals and can be added to the fuel? and also for the gearbox???
A second question is - has anyone got any experience /views on adopting biodiesel - diesel made using cooking oil??? adv/ disadv??
Looking forward to hearing and thanx for taking the time to read this

I've done this on other engines. Since the crank jaw or lug acts to tighten into the crankshaft when you hand crank, it stands to reason that if you hold it stationary, while cranking with the starter, it will loosen. Just use a long handled wrench and brace it well. (against something, don't try to hang onto it!) Be sure you know which way it tends to swing! Then just touch the starter button once or twice. The torque created by the starter is much greater than you'd imagine.

could you put tractor in gear and lock brakes down or put bar against flywheel take off starter of course and use big screwdriver. Just some ideas.
