TE-20 or TO-20 ?

I have recently purchased what was said to be a MF20 but I am almost certain that it is a Ferguson TE20 or TO20. The serial plate has been torn off and I dont have a clue as to how to determine the make, model or year.

What is the difference between the TE20 and the TO20 and how can I confirm the year it was made?

the only difference between a to-20 and a te-20, is that the te-20 was made in england and the to was made in the states. the te-20 has a Lucas electrical system which you should be able to tell this by the distributor and/or the voltage regulator

Look in the article archives at the left once into the archives near the end in tractor profiles you will find the TO 20 some parts specs are given. This may provide a clue also the nebraska test was done on a TE 20 whose part specs are indicated. I hope this gives you a lead on you tractor type. I have a TEA 20(English made with a Standard engine)

The easiest way to tell the difference between the TE20 and the TO20 is to look at the steering housing and transmission cover.TE20 has the steering housing and transmission cover as one unit. The TO20 has the steering housing separate from the transmission cover.As far as the year goes ,with no tag I have no idea but the TO20 ran from 1948 to 1951.I have a TO20 1950 if you have any specific questions post or email me and I will glade to reply.Hope this helps.
