Hi

I gave my Ferguson a 50 years birthday present,
a injection pump + injector full service.
Before i took the pump off i marked the timing
position.
The pumps difference between cylinders was 10%,
and it was adjusted to run on wery lean mixture,
factory recommendation minimum,
now i understand why it didnt smoke at all in
normal use, the guy at the diesel service shop
adjusted it to run on factory max mixture (10%more)
Two injectors were bad, so we decided to renew
them all.
But....when i was assembling the pump back i
noticed that the pump had been adjusted so late
it was possible to put it, now i has tried to adjust it sooner to try out how it is reacting,
it is starting better(without white smoke), runs better and it sounds a liddle bit more powerful.
Why i was trying this.... is because i cant
belive that anyting that can be adjusted should
be adjusted max or min, i prefer that it is more
OK somewhere in the middle of the scale.
The second thing that helps my theory was the
bad starting and the white smoke after starting
it.
Does anybody have a advice how to adjust the
injection timing at home without any special
tools.

Regards D. Lindholm / Finland
