I pulled the steering box off my TO-20 tonight to get better access for cleaning the greasy gook and mouse nest out of the bellhousing and found that the Sherman combo is the Ferguson model. Since the shifter start button was disconnected and a button had been installed on the dash, I had assumed that someone had put a Ford style Sherman in it and eliminated the shifter start feature. The only thing that seems to be missing is the linkage between the shift rail and the switch actuator. I think I'm going to go ahead and try to fabricate that this weekend and put it in. I'm not going to mess with replacing the switch right now, although it's stuck. I really need the tractor running and the dash button works fine. I just want to have all the parts in place for when I do get into restoration and paint mode. I know, I know. It doesn't take much to make me happy. But sometimes when you run into one expensive, time consuming setback after another, those little things somehow make the whole project worthwhile.

There is an old saying by those who were raised near the Everglades. "When you are up to your butt in alligators, it's hard to remember that you went in there to drain the swamp."
I would love the paint my TO-35, but I can't take it out of service long enough. I have to have it working to run this place...at least I think I do.

I hear ya!! It's all of those little things that don't cost you an arm and a leg that make having and fixing an old tractor so rewarding.
