I would like to put a front loader on my 48 TO20, however I'm not sure it is possible. Does anyone make a loader that will work on a tractor like this? Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks
Bob

Take a look at the front axle support on your TO-20. You will see that the whole front end of the tractor is supported by the front casting of the engine. Add a few hundred pounds with a bucket filled loader on the front axle and then drop all that extra weight on the engine casting of the block into a rut or hole and you are only asking to bust your engine block. If you want to see proof of it I'll post a couple pictures of my TO-30 with the patched engine block that was broken because it had a front loader on it. If you have to have a loader buy a skid steer loader, don't abuse and chop up the sheet metal to put one on a nice vintage Ferguson.
My personal point of view only.

Ferguson actually made a loader specifically for this tractor. It mounts to the front axle brackets (I think the same ones the cultivator and bumber/hitch mounted to? and has cylindars that go back. It"s somewhat light duty and I"ve not seen many around. mine will be restored this summer and mounted on my 49 to-20 - grandpa bought them together new. Anyway, nice handy litte loader if you can find one, but operates off the tractor"s system which is not live..

Bob,

Just saw this yesterday.

There is one listed in this weeks Ohio Auto and RV trader mag. It is listed by Willard Equipt. in Willard, Ohio. $900 for Tractor and loader. Get them both, pull off the loader and resell the tractor for $900. (419) 933-6791.

Jeff (who does not know where Willard, OH even is)

Willard is found on S.R. 224 over towards the Findlay -Tiffin area, both of which are around 50 or so miles south from Toledo.
The front loader can be fitted to your tractor. I know because my neighbor has a TO 20 with one on it. The loader is powered via a hydraulic pump on the front of the engine. The main problem I have witnessed with his system is a fairly frequent wearing out of the front axle pivot bushing. Perhaps there is an upgrade bushing for the application you"re considering, because obviously there is a great deal of extra weight put on the front pivot. Maybe another respondent can help with this.
