Hello, its me again!
I have had a problem with my TE-20 ever since we bought it 14yrs ago. Oil leak's out of a drainage hole in the sump under the engine, there is a_!!_ shaped thing in it, rather like an upsidown "T", I don't know if it is sopposed to be there, but when the tracter is sloping forwards, it leaves an oil patch on the ground obout 1/2 metre wide, but nothing comes out when it is level, or sloping backwards.
There is allso another hole in the sump under the engine, which doesn't have anything in it, but still leak's a few drops every day.
I'd appreciate the help,
Jack Machin

Hi Jack!
I wonder if the oil is actually coming from the seal on the power shaft into the transmission, since the leak occurs when the tractor is facing downhill(an important clue). Maybe you can catch some in a pan to check whether it is motor oil or transmission-hydraulic fluid.
Easy to fix: just split the tractor, have one friend hold up the engine end and another friend hold up the transmission while you poke in a new seal! Good luck! Tex

Hi again Jack that is supposed to be like that as the rear seal of the engine probably leaks a bit and this allow the oil to seep out rather than build up and ruin the clutch lining if you ever do an engine rebuild you would replace the seal. Not sure if you can just by removing oil pan. There is a tool for that available at auto stores. regards
