I have a hole that is located on the bottom of my tractor between the transmission and rear axle. It has a cotter key in it and is leeking oil. I was wondering if it is supposed to be there? Next question is there any decals for this tractor? Lastly is everthing grey on the motor,(starter, generator and oil filter)or if not please let me know what colors they are.

I once had a Farmall H that underwent a flame job. It smoke for a few hours afterwards then turned completely black. Bummer.

When I got my TO-30 my brother suggested I paint flames on the grey hood. I however can not do this because my 8n burnt to a crisp in the field when a fuel leak ignited while bushhogging. Ever since, I can't stand the thought of flames and tractors going together at my place. I do think it would look good though, just make sure it's just a paint job. VA.

My condolences to both of you on the tractor fires.... No laughing matter.. I just hope no one was hurt.
Over the last year or so, I've ready way too many posts regarding this subject, so I installed a quick release fire extinguisher on the fender right next to me. I also took care of that annoying slow drip coming out of my sediment bowl. Seems it leaked right onto my starter. Now there was a fire waiting to happen! Teflon tape works great to stop those little leaks.
If I do indeed put the flames on, I hope it doesn't become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Jason,
The cotter key is there to prevent the hole from plugging up with goop. As you drive the tractor, the cotterkey vibrates and keeps the hole clear.
Yes, grey is the correct color.. not very exciting, but correct.
Don't know about decals. Mine has some emblems on the side of the hood that have been painted over.
BTW, my TO30 has a grey chassis and red hood and fenders. Since I'm not worried about restoring it, I kinda like it. Thinkin' about some yellow flames. 8-)
