Right Rear Axle

Can anyone tell me why the right rear axle is always the first one to start leaking and often is the only one that leaks. Does it have something to do with torque, etc...

It may seem like it is always the right side that leaks and possibly it is from what you have experienced, but actually no side is prone to leaks more than other. From what I remember I seemed to have change more left axle-shaft than right side ones but after all this time who can tell. At the time you don't take a lot of notice, it is only when a question like this comes up that you start to try to think back.

First, I doubt that there is any generic mechanical differences.... But here are a few reasons why I would expect to see it on the right to a greater extent than the left...
1- Plowing puts the right side lower than the left leading to more oil at that seal,
2- Crown of the road falls off to the right, see 1.
3- If you like NASCAR, then you probably turn left faster than you turn right :-)
If you are experiencing frequent right side problems, I"d also look at that seal surface on that side... J2
