TO-35 position selector lever not working

I just purchased a TO-35, and I'm having some trouble with my hydraulic lift. I can lift the implements with the draft lever by pushing it forward (Implements are all the way up or down, no in-between); the position selector lever is not doing anything. I'm a novice when it comes to working on tractors, anyone have any suggestions?

Also, check to see if the roller was knocked off the position control linkage. Its right behind the access cover that's home to the dipstick.

(I'd suggest getting a service/parts manual if you don't already)

Attach a chain to the top link mounting point on the implement. Hook it to the tractor at the three holes (for stabilizer bars) just below the top link "Master control spring". (You are attempting to eliminate the top link from mounting to its intended spot on the tractor) See if it lifts OK like that. That eliminates the draft sensing from the equation.

If it lifts OK, you have the problem with the master control spring as mentioned, or the draft stop screw (under-side of lift cover) needs adjustment.

Hey Might Fine that trick for the master control spring does not work on the TO & MF35. just the MF100 series and the MF200 series

After reading your description of the problem a few times, it sounds more like position control linkage issues. Draft sensing may not have anything to do with this one.

I'm not sure about the TO-35. I'm more familiar with the 100 series. If they're the same, I'd check that roller behind the dip stick inspection cover.

Still HIGHLY recommend owners/service/parts manuals (from Massey Ferguson)

Before you do anything drastic, check that the rocker that the top link attaches to on the tractor is free to move and not stuck partly pushed in. If you remove the screws it pivots on and lube them, check if there is any in and out free movement on the whole thing into the housing, if there is, unscrew the small grub screw, on the side of the housing, a few turns and tighten the large nut underneath to just remove any free play there happens to be. Re-tighten the grub screw lightly, don't over-tighten or it will damage the threads on the nut.If there is no play in the spring in the housing then you need to reset the control linkage inside the top cover. You will need instructions on how to do this, if you want them email me at fergusontractors (at) tiscali.co.uk and ask for them as I wont remember what you actually need.
