Guys... Thanks for all you help and advice in the past...

My TO-20 Starts and runs for 30 seconds and dies... I let her sit for a while, she fires up, runs for 30 sec's or so and stalls.

Advice, hints, suggestions????

Thanks for your inputs guys... Sucess has reared it's head!! And just in time, Sunday morning I had 8" of snow to move!
After checking the ignition system, again, I was pretty well convinces it was a fuel issue.
After the first start/die cycle, I removed the air intake to the carb and gave it a shot of ether. It started and died. I repeated the process twice more for good measure, drove to Cental Tractor for a rebuild kit and 2 hours later I was firing on all 4 cylinders! Albeit in desperate need of some fine tuning to the carb and ideler... But that is for another day I am afraid. The wife-to-be is looking to go shopping!

I had the same problem on my F40, tried jumpering the ignition switch, problem solved! Checking with an ohmeter showed intermittant current through the connectors,cleaned same and no problems since. Seems kind of far fetched but it worked

I always recommend that you check the spark when you have a poor running condition. It easy to do and it checks the major cause of poor running/starting; the primary ignition circuit. Pull a spark plug wire off, put a paper clip or piece of bent wire in the boot, hold it about an 1/8. from a good ground, turn the key on and try a start. If you have a fat, bluish spark, the primary ignition circuit is OK and you can move on to the fuel system. If in your case the spark looks good, check the fuel deivery to the carburetor, including the "secret filter" in the fuel supply elbow at the carb. The quick check is to open the fuel valve on the tank and holding a can under the carb, open the plug on the bottom of the carb and the fuel should gush out continuously for at least 30 seconds. If it doesn't, start checking the fuel delivery lines includine the "secret filter" til you find out the problem. These old machine were stored for years in old barns, under trees, etc and the the fuel tanks are full of rust and crap and corruption.

sounds like you aint gettin fuel enough, so clean the carb extensively and check your fuel flow to the carb. if that all checks out and it still occurs, check your valvetrain and compression. good luck.!!!

oh yeah, you better check your timing cause u might be firing too late.

Sounds like classic fuel starvation. Check the fuel filter that is in the carburetor to eliminate any trash that may be in the filter screen. If you have a filter between the fuel tank and the carburetor, a good idea, by the way, check that also. It boils down to, if there is not a constant flow of fuel to the float bowl, these tractors run for about 30 seconds and then fuel starve. Let us know what you find.

Just as it starts to die, try spraying a little bit of starting fluid (ether) into the intake. Don"t use a lot. This will immediately show you if it"s a fuel starvation problem if it continues to run on ether.
