When I bought my '51 TO30 two years ago, one tire was new and the other OLD as in possibly an original. The tire shop guy and I were wondering how old it might be, ie, could it have been an original. It's a General, 12-4 x 28 on an 11" rim. Anybody out there know what brand(s) came on Fergies from the factory? Just wondering.

I don't think that it was original... 12.4-28 was not a tire size back then.... Miller Tire in Wauseon, OH does a lot of tire replacement and has these charts:

As you can see, the original marking would be 11-28 but it would be equivalent to todays marking of 12.4-28. Many people, thinking that they are trying to be original mistakingly put 11.2 on, but they look weird.... entirely too skinny and short... (I am not pushing Miller Tires.. just familiar with them, but if you want to see it there, link below.)

Mick I have a To 30 I replaced the tires it came out on Goodyear 11x28 as the oem. I put 11.2x28 thay are about the same size, most tire shops want to sell 12.4x28 as a replacement . Old tire size on the Fergson was 10x28 or 11x28 good luck.

As ferg 30 said, not an original size. In fact the size you have doesn"t fit well on the rim, giving a rounded profile.
