boy i thought this was gonna be a easy one was i wrong? or is this been long monday at work? I have a 1951 TO30 that I use around the hobby farm for brush hogging and back blading and just about every other thing imanginable spring summer winter and fall, so i was quite distraught when i pulled the back four bolt cover off the pto output shaft and found that the pto shaft came with it. I picked at the seal a little bit with a shop pick after removing the snap ring and it looked to me that the seal is spinning. My question is how does this come apart i know i should have a manuel before starting this project but i got a little over anxios to get at it, was that the seal i was picking at or is this a bearing seal combo ? do i need a press? All input will be apricated. And last but not least what is a recommended oil for Minnesota winters and Minnesota summers. Thanks in advance! Kevin ser# 71491

Did this on an F-40 3 weeks ago. First repair of any substance that I tried on my tractor. Followed IT manual instructions. However when I pulled the PTO shaft out i heard and felt a clunk. At the time I did not know what it was but when I tried to put the shaft back in it would not go all the way. Discovered that the clunk I felt and heard was that the ground speed driven gear fell off the PTO shaft when it was removed. Had to remove both side cover assemblies to reinstall gear onto the PTO shaft as it was slid into place. There must be some way to prevent the gear from falling off. I think if I had the PTO shifter in ground PTO position it probably would not have fallen off but I don't know for sure. If you have a Massey dealer near by take the shaft and parts and have then put the seal on and a new "o" ring and snap ring. Simple solution, should cost very little. The dealer put my seal, new snap ring and "o"ring on for no charge. Took at best 10 minutes with the right tools. I got every thing back together with no left over parts and I went back to mowing after 4 hours and two trips to the dealer. Hope this helps.

i have 1952 harry ferguson with left rear wheel seal leaking and work like to know want is the best way of making repair and were to get new seal if this is what i need. also i just bought this tractor and where is hood latch located on this machine
