Paint color on a ROPS?

I�m getting close to finishing a restoration on a 1956 TO-35 that grew saplings for 21 years. So far you guys have given me great advice.

I know a ROPS is sacrilegious to some, but I have hilly land and a nice family. The tractor has a green belly and gray tin. Should I paint the ROPS green or gray?

P.S. If you forgive me for the ROPS I promise not to tell you about the modern seat and seatbelt.

We have two to-20s at work, they get large amount of time and I like the idea of rops in a work tractor, show tractor is a different story. Who's the manufacture.

I think its a good idea.I would paint it the same as the hood and fenders.

Your choice, but personally, I'd choose neither... I'd use black... Most of the tractors that I have seen have a black ROPS regardless of the tractor colors.. and I think that it is less obtrusive...

Where would I get a ROPS like the one in the picture? We are purchasing a Ford 8n, but we don't know where to get a ROPS or the seat belts. We have hilly land and I want my fiance to be safe when he uses the tractor.

Thanks for helping us think about safety. Be sure to post pictures when it is done. I have been thinking about ROPS for my TO20. It could be very important on a working tractor. The old skin covered roll bar usually only works once.

I"ve never in my life seen a Ferguson with an ROPS on it. But I think it"s a great idea.

(How about some pics when you"re done?)

If anyone gives you hard time about it, smack "em upside the head.

Personally, I"d paint it grey. The ROPS is above the fenders, so I think it would match up better that way.

OK, if the tractor's used on hilly country a rollover bar can save serious injury (not sure I'd want to be strapped in as well, though - one of my friends wouldn't be with us if he'd been strapped in when the tractor went over a cliff, but I guess that's exceptional. I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that generally I disagree with ROPS on antique tractors. There's two issues as I see it. First, enhanced safety can result in more accidents (but less injuries, hopefully), as people take chances they wouldn't without those features. How many motorcyclists, happy to ride at 120mph, would still do so without a crash helmet? And then there's legislation. As soon as legislators see gear like this can be retro-fitted without too much hassle, they'll make everyone fit them.

I agree that ROPS look odd on vintage tractors and if I lived in flat country I would just be more careful.

The risk-taking comment is a good one but I'm too old for that kind of thing. In my younger days I came off my motorcycle at 50 MPH. I was wearing a full face helment and walked away.
