I've just joined this forum and after reading old contributions on stuck clutches, I'd like to share my bit. My tractor's clutch occasionally refused to disconnect since I bought it 6 years ago. Using it did not improve matters as it has now become outright dangerous. It sometimes requires standing up on the brake, almost stalling the engine before getting the clutch to break loose. Inching up in reverse to hook up an implement is almost impossible. I don't allow anybody else to operate it as it's behaviour is erratic. No doubt I will soon have to find time to strip an investigate.

Obviously the plate isn't slipping if it is behaving like that. It could also be the clutch pressure plate that is breaking up on the surface. This could have lots of little cracks all over the plate and wont allow the friction disc (clutch plate) to slip no matter what condition it is in.

That sounds to me like you have oil getting onto the clutch plate and causing it to stick to the flywheel. I had the same problem with my TEF 20 Diesel, the solution is to split the tractor and replace the seal from the engine side, and check and re-seal any leaks on the gearbox side.
