My TO-20 has a temp gauge in the dash but it is not connected. There is a bulb on the end of the wire but there is no fitting behind the bulb to install in the engine (where does it go anyway??). Does anyone know a source for a temp gauge that I can purchase and install that has the fittings and will work in this tractor? I also still cannot get the yoke bushing removed that is installed near the lift spring. John in the UK has offered suggestions but it just won't budge (John, I have not yet resorted to try and cut the bushing).

Keep the faith! Another story of patience.. After weeks of penetrating oil (doubt that it did much good), I ultimately went to the torch... after heating the female threaded end (through the spring) cherry red, I was able to finally get the piece to turn... Multiple reheatings were necessary to keep it coming... still took about 30 ft-lbs of torque (just a guess)all the way to the end... the threads will need chasing, but no damage to the internal parts.. Mike,
I bought a Stewart Warner gauge for my TO-20 last year. It has a 48" capilary tube on it. It fits to a T,and it works beautifully. It actually has a temperature scale. The down side of this gauge is ,it is almost $50.00. Nice gauge though!!!! I got one for my TO30 just the other day from eBay for around $20.00. It's not real fancy but it has a capilary tube that is the right length. It was advertised as a 40" tube. I don't have it on yet but I checked the tube length to make sure it would work. All of the new gauges I have bought have the right fittings for installing them.

Getting the yoke loose on your Fergy is a real test of patients. I finally got mine loose after squirting PB Blast repeatedly for a week or so. I then took the torch to it but still couldn't get it loose. Next I went to NAPA and got a can of Knock R Loose. This stuff is good. You can squirt this stuff on a rusted nut, just sit back for a few seconds and you can watch that nut just start turning off all by itself. Seriously though, I squirted the Knock R Loose on the yoke a few times. All the time that I was trying to get it loose I would try to turn it with out putting too much force on it as to screw up the linkage inside the cover. Finally after weeks of this, one day it came loose. But not without twisting the linkage off of the controll valve. I was able to remove the side plates and reach down in to the pump and get the fork back on the valve. I got lucky!!!

Good Luck!!!

Mike M.

TSC has two available - get the one with the black rubber-covered bourden tube, and it will fit perfectly; the metal covered tube one is way too long. The bulb on the end of the tube goes in the cast iron neck right at the lower end of the upper radiator hose - on the left side. The old adaptor and broken tube are probably still there plugging the hole and looking like they belong.

Mike, can't help you on the bushing, but I can help you on the temp gauge.
The temp gauge is installed on the coolant neck coming off the head, running to the radiator. There is probably a plug screwed into the port for the temp. probe now. Look for it on the coolant neck. That is not actually wire, but tubing that is running down to the bulb. I bought a temp gauge a few years back at TSC that was listed for a Ford 8N, Jubilee or 600. It fit perfectly! Like it was made just for the TO-20.

I'm sure you can get a gauge from a AGCO dealer also, but be prepared to pay a lot more.

You can also install a generic gauge from an auto parts store. The down side to the generic ones is that the capillary tubing is way to long and you will have to coil it up neatly so it does not kink.

There is a temp gauge listed on page F10--6 of the new Sparex Ferguson Book, but not for sure if that will help or not,,,,Good Luck Albert B
