TO-20 Bushing Removal Help

I am trying to remove the part (I think it is called a yoke) that is attached to the large spring that is part of the lift assembly. The third link attaches to this part. I have removed the large pin going through the part but there is a bushing through the differential casting that is longer than the yoke is wide and the yoke cannot be removed with this bushing in place. Hammer and punch along with penetrating oil is not working. Any ideas?

If you can get at it, cut it with a hacksaw lengthwise across the tractor, if you can do that it will release the pressure in the bush. There was a special puller for doing that and you can make one up with a heavy bolt, just be careful that you don't get too much pressure on it and break the ear off the transmission case that the long hinged pin passes through.

John---Thanks for the reply. You are very faithful to try and help. I think it's unlikely I can saw the bushing, but I will try to at least get a hacksaw blade in there and try. The bushing appears to have a split in it, but it is very faint. I have a great fear of breaking off the housing ear so I have not hit it very hard with the punch I have fashioned. I'm in a pretty good bind as the yoke on the tractor has been welded before and is not in good shape. The replacement I have is very good but worthless unless I can remove the old one. Do you think heating the bushing with a torch would help or is that too risky? If I can possibly saw the old bushing could I still use it?

I appreciate it is difficult to get at it with a saw but I do know that some have managed it somehow. I always used the puller on them and even then they could be hard to get out sometimes so with another 50 years on them it will be harder still. The bush did have a split in it so it expanded to hold itself in position, maybe if you got a saw blade in there somehow it would clean the split out and allow it to close a little so you might get it out easier. The centre part of the casting that has the bush in will be ok and it is strong enough to allow you hit the bush to get it out, the one I was meaning that could break off is the left hand one on the side of the axle casing. I think that you could heat the casting where the bush is located with a bit of care, just enough to allow some expansion and free the bush. If you saw the old bush I doubt if it would be much use again, it will depend on what damage is done to it while you are getting it out. If the bush isn't too bad and it will hold in the casting then I would think that you will be able to try to use it again. You could use the Rocker from a Ford 9N as it will fit part # NCA535a it has two positions for the top link attachment but you only need to use the bottom one, the top one is for when there is only little pressure down the top link. If you need to change the yoke or the shaft that attaches to the rocker, again you can use the Ford parts. The yoke is 9N546C and the plunger rod is 8N541B, I have checked the change-over numbers from Ferguson and according to their list these parts do fit ok. The bush from the Ford is not shown as fitting but I would think that it may be the total length of the bush that is the problem so that would make it not directly interchangeable, but it will go through the rocker so it will pass through the rear housing so probably it is just the length that varies from the Ferguson one but you should be able to overcome that I think. The parts are are available from this site in the 9N parts. in the hydraulic section and the Hitch and drawbar section.
