Jonesy, G'Day
Just replaced my belt on a TED20, all these comments are correct, turn the belt on it's side and push down with a flat screw driver, it will clear. Harry's design here is not user friendly.
Good luck,
Allan (Australia)

Its as Jerry has said but you may have the later type generator fitted, to adjust that you need to slacken the two pivot bolts at the top and then slacken the adjuster bolt on the long slotted adjuster, press the generator down to slacken the belt, on your tractor you may also have a blanking piece fitted into the radiator cowl around the fan, this is right alongside the belt, you should remove this to help you fit the new belt, don't forget to refit it later. Test the belt deflection on the longest straight belt run which is on the left side of the engine. Make sure that you grease the water Pump if there is a greaser fitted to it as the load on the Pump bearings will be greater now.Don't forget to tighten the two top pivot bolts. Most likely your tractor does not have an ammeter fitted so the warning light should go out just as soon as the engine revs up a little.

I'm not familiar with the specifics of your TEA with the Standard engine but fan belt changes are generally generic. The alternator/generator (A/G) is generally mounted on a bracket with a long pivot bolt near the engine clock and an adjustment arm with a slot that has a bolt that threads into the A/G. Loosen thbolt on the arm and the pivot bolt, then move the A/G toward the engine block, loosening the belt.. Slip the belt off the A/G pulley, the crankshaft pulley, the water pump pulley, and then over the fan. Replacement is the reverse of the removal. To adjust the belt tension, tighten the adjustment bolt just enough so that you can still move the A/G and pry or pull it away from the engine block. For a new belt get it pretty tight(1/8" deflection between when pushed down between the water pump and A/G.) Tighten the adjustment bolt snuggly and then tighten the pivot bolt. Start it up and make sure thet the fan is turning and the ammeter shows positive current flow. After a few hours of use, go back and retighten it as it will probably stretch a bit.

Thank you for the replies, but maybe I should have been clearer on my problem.

The problem being, is removing the belt between the front axle swivel and the hand crank engagement. There does not seem to be enough room to remove a belt there, without loosening the front axle mount from the motor.

Thanks again...Jonesy

It will pass through, there should be just enough room. There should be no need to slacken the axle carrier.

Hi Jon

You may try to pass the belt sideways
the belt should be thinner than its width.

We had two TEA-2085 for years and never had to
do anything than loosening the binder to change
the belt.

Otherwise the cranckshaft pulley may not be the
original or not at its place.

HTH
