1955 TO35 gas w/dual clutch. I have had the tractor for over a year and last week, suddenly, the clutch will not disengage. The PTO part of the clutch engages and disengages normally. Also, while looking in the insp. plate it appears that the release bearing, etc. move up & back ok. The clutch had worked ok previous to this. I have tried adjusting the clutch pedal.
Any ideas short of splitting the tractor and overhauling the clutch? Thanks

Had the same problem and just split mine yesterday. Found one of the finger bolts had snapped, bad news, but the good news is that I found that I have a dual clutch, must have been out of adjustment. to 35s have two models of dual clutch's you need a manual to identify which one you have in order to get the correct parts. by the way anybody know where i can get small parts like clutch bolts. haven't found anything online, going to the local mf dealer tommorow.

When working on the MF30, we had to adjust the inner clutch clearance to .080", I've got the same clutch in my TO35, it took the same measurement, maybe this will help.

Having just finished reinstalling the Dual Clutch in my MF35, I would highly suggest that if you don't have a shop manual- get one. Removing the two stage clutch is a whole different game from working on a single stage clutch. I was able to make an alignment tool on my wood turning lathe. You will also need three 1/4" x 6" Tee Bolts to compress the Pressure Plate springs before removal. You will also need to get a gauge or make one to adjust the Release Fingers. Make sure that the inner pressure plate is lined up before you reinstall. I mention this because I didn't read the removal instructions First.Consequently I broke the cover plate when I tried to do it my way. A $90.00 dollar lesson that I don't mind sharing with anyone who is going to be working on his Dual Clutch. If you have any doubts or questions, feel free to send me an eMail.

You will have to split it, if the pedal clearance is correct (3/8" under the footrest) then you have no alternative. If you need help with the clutch part mail me I have a Service Manual for that:- fergusontractors (at)tiscali.co.uk

Can"t see how you"ll get out of not splitting it. Sounds as if either the driven plate has broken up or a finger has come adrift.

Agree will have to split. When repairing replace bearing and have clutch done by a good company. You will have many years out of a new cluth
