My TO 20 leaks oil below or around the area of the plugs. It appears to be coming from the tubes that the push rods travel through. Is that possible ? It leaks even when the engine is not running. Perhaps seeps would be a better word. Sure would like some comments on this. It is not coming from the rocker arm cover. Thanks

thanks guys for your comments on push rod tubes leak. John did you mean there was a device to expand the ends of the push rod tubes? Why would they seep when the engine is not running? It seems they should drain into the pan when not running. since there is not much pressure on them would something like J B Weld work?

The tubes on my TO-30 engine also seep slightly. It is rather hard to keep the engine spotless that way but my tractor is for work so it doesn't matter that much. I just pressure wash it once in awhile. This head was a rebuilt one that I paid about $300 about 6 years ago.

Can those tubes be driven out, or even upwards 1/4"? (obviously needs head off). If they can, I'd countersink the holes they fit in sufficiently to allow an O ring to be placed in the chamfer (to lie on top of head gasket).

Yes it is possible that the push rod tubes will leak. Don't know what the answer would be now or if you can get the tubes to replace them. There was a special puller with a collar on either end so it would tightly clamp the tubes to the head.
