rebuilding carb throttle shaft question

I finally got my carb rebuild kit (c549V) for my TSX-458. I do not quite understand how to assemble the throttle shaft. In the kit there is a white thick felt ring and a rubber seal. How do these parts go together and do I still use the metal retainer I took out before soaking the carb which held in the old packing. Also, I ordered the kit for my carb, but the main nozzle is the wrong one! It is made for a carb with the removable jet like the 312. I had to clean up my old one to reuse. Did I get riped off or is this typical? There is also a couple of extra fiber washers and a metal washer I can"t figure out where they go. any thoughts? Is there supposed to be anything like a seal where the main power jet spring rests against? the carb has an countersunk hole like it holds something or is this to just keep the spring in place?

Thanks,

Mike, What did yours have in it when you took it apart, felt packing or rubber seal? Go back with same. You will have to reuse the metal retainer you took out. My kit came with the wrong main nozzle also. It is a ripoff, they should give you the parts you need for your carb. I reused my old one and it worked fine. Use a fiber seal and a metal washer with your power jet and spring, the spring goes against the metal washer. Hope this helps!

My shaft opening was so bad I could not tell if it was felt of rubber behind the metal rteainer.

What ever fits best will work. I use the rubber. Check your new shaft to see how wore your housing is. The idea is to prevent air from drawing around the throttle shaft. If it's a little sloppy I would use the felt as it may seal better.
