I posted earlier that I need a TO 30 block because of spun mains..... My line bore guy was over tonight and said if I had a good set of caps he could reline bore this block and save it..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Does any one have a good set of main caps from an old busted block. Thanks, Jason

First, I don't have any caps... so if that is what you need, I can't help you..... but for my own interest, I am trying to understand why the old ones cannot be reworked... I am not very experienced in this but the only block that I've had line bored, they used the old bearing caps.. in fact, my understanding was that it was easier to rework the caps than it was the block.. They shorten the height of the cap by grinding off on the surface that touches the block (to make the crank bearing hole smaller)then bolt everything together and "line bore" it back out to spec. If your 0.030 number is correct, it would be easy to make it up on the cap side, but harder on the block side.

And, it seems to me, since I am an old guy, that you could pour a babbet "bearing" (like they had to do for Model A Fords)into the bad main and then line bore it out to support a new proper insert of the right size. You could pin it if you worried about spinning it again.... see, all fixed!!! J.
