Hello, I am beginning to rebuild my carburetor off my to-30 completley, but am having some difficulties. First off, I can not determine if my carb is a 485 model or the 600 something model. What are some identifying differences? The brass id tag is missing but it is a marvel. Secondly, the insides are pretty bad, what is the best way to clean and make sure all ports (holes) are clear? Where can I get a rebuild kit that replaces as much as possible. I also have a busted shaft that works the choke. Are these shafts available. I would appreciate as much help and advise as possible.

Thanks,
Mike

do any of you guys know where I can get the choke shaft and the flapper plate? I think my plate is damaged too much to reuse. My local ferguson dealer could not seem to be able to find these parts.

Thanks for the info guys, what got me was the picture of the replacement carbs on this site. The site shows 2 and both say they are a replacement for the to-30. I checked out the pic of the rebuild kit, it does not show a shaft though for the choke/air. I did find a kit on ebay that claims to have the shaft with it. When the carb soaks in the bapa stuff, what do you do afterwards, scrub it down with a brush and let it soak again?

Mike
when i do the carb, if i take it out and the thing dosent look completely clean i let it sit longer ,then i dry it off good and blow out all the orifices and openings with air ,i set up a good light so i can see what i may be missing ,after i am sattisfied that it is as perfect as i can make it only then will i start assembling it ,i have done a few in the past where i rushed the process and only had to come back a second time to do it again its an easy job ,so take your time ,
By the way hold onto the cleaner strain it off and put back in the gallon it came in , you can use it agai
Good luck Danny

Mike ,the carb on the TO30 is a TSX 458 if it is the Marvell type and the name is on the cast of the lower body, any of the tractor parts places on this site sells rebuild kits ,the best way to clean it is to get a gallon of carb cleaner from a place like Napa and after you strip it all down suspend the two body parts in the cleaner overnite ,sometimes it takes longer as if you dont get all the crud out of the passages you will have problems
Good luck
Danny

You can buy kits from this site and there is a good article on carb overhaul that may help you...here:-http://www.ytmag.com/articles/restore/8ncarb/artint231_pg1.htm

for parts you can go here, it will help you even if decide to buy elsewhere:-
