Many thank to those who answered previous questions. The help is much appreciated. Now I need some more. I've got a TO20 running a Howse Implement 5' brush hog. (Their model 500 for those who are familiar with it.) When I raise the lift, after it gets so high, the drive shaft hits and grinds on the front edge of the deck housing. It was suggested that I shorten the top link, which I did. Helped a little (didn't hit the housing as soon), but then the tail wheel wouldn't lower the whole way to the ground. What's the solution to this? I suppose I could adjust the tail wheel mounting, but then the thing would probably leave the grass about eight inches high. Is there some adjustment to make somewhere that I don't know about? (I guess there must be...Help..... .)
Thanks again

The TO20 is not a good tractor for bush hogging: The PTO shaft is lower than standard and you can expect the shaft to hit the deck with most any mower. Assume you know you also need an overrunning coupler. None of this is your fault. The tractor was designed for other purposes, before bush hogs were invented.

Sold mine recently after having it for a long time. If this Zane Thang position control conversion works it will be a great thing for these tractors!

I have a TO 20 and a 5 foot King Cutter Brush Hog. I have the same problem. I haven't been able to adjust it out. My problem is when I'm Hoggin around some trees and stumps, I raise the Hog up to clear debris and it goes higher than I want or need, and rubs the PTO shaft. When I'm dodging trees, I don't have time to watch my Hog to make sure it is at just the right height. I found the Zane Thang cured my problems. I use chains so I can drop my Hog down and take the load off the hydraulics. With the Zane Thang you really can raise and lower the Hog by feel and it stays there. You don't need to keep look back at it to see how high it has gone up.

I RUN A 5 FT on my TO 20 I HAD truble with my brush hog till I put stay chain assembly on it I use it to adjust the hight and take the load off the hydraulics thay cost about $18 at ct. I use them even with my tractors with hight control ther easy to put on and use. and quick to adjust I keep my rear tire high aslong as the front is at the proper hight it will cut the grass. it is already cut before it gets to the back of the hog hope it helps good luck

Install the Zane Thang so to have position control and you can keep i from comming up to high and hitting the shaft. Type in Zane Thang under search on this site and you can learn more.
