Looseh the four bolts on the starter relay, and move the relay forwards or backwards until you have good contact. This should allow you to start your tractor without crossing the terminals. If you are still having difficulties, remove the four bolts and the battery leads. Lift up the relay, so that you can see the operating mechanism below. Carefully remove the cotter pin, which connects the relay to the operating lever, and most importantly, tie this lever up, I use a 6" nail, to keep it up,so that it doesn't fall into the bell housing, as you can have to split the tractor to reposition it. When looking onto the top of the relay, there will either be three rivets, or three small machine screws holding it together. Remove these, and then you are into the guts of the relay. You will possibly find that the two bolt contacts are dirty, oy the main contact ring is dirty/pitted, due to arcing/poor contact. Clean these with a little emery paper, build your relay back together again and re install, adjusting the starter relay on the bell housing, by sliding back or forward. Some people remove the copper bolts, and place a little shim underneath, if you do this, it is important, not to have them sitting very proud of the plastic/bakelite. If your relay had rivets, you should consider removing these, doing the service, and then tapping the housing and fitting three machine screws. Or, if you wish, pay between �45 stg and �65 stg for a "new" reconditioned part exchange relay, which is available. Hope this helps Stephen
