I have a to30 1951 drained the oil out of rear of tractor, took the three plugs off,let it drain over night,on the middle plug(the big plug)there is a cover plate held on with about 10 bolts, and there is one bolt in (sideways) best way i can explain that,I wanted to take the cover plate off to clean the sludge off the inside of it,that bolt in side ways allows a very little more oil to drain out of it,anyways I couldn't get the plate off,is there a gasket there?why doesn't it come off?do I have to pry it off?thanks for any help, the oil was pretty clean that came out,not milky at all.

The bolt going in sideways is a pressure port or tapping off point. If the oil has been changed fairly regularly it should be clean. The correct oil change interval is every 12 months.

As was said. Harry made these machines easy to work on. The Hydro pume drops down out of the tractor. That is the pump. To remove the pump you would have to disconnect all the upper linkage and pull the PTO.

If your just tring to clean and change the oil, do not pull the pump. Instead pull the two inspection plates and get at the cavity from the top. err. sides

Jeff

The sideways nut sounds like the port for a test gauge. If so, you do not need to have this out unless you are testing the pressure of the pump. Little Dave is correct in the reply that he sent, do not attempt to pry the plate off. A manuel would be a wise purchase at this point.

Rusty Nut that plate is the hyd. pump. Only way to get it out is to disconnect the control valve from the control forks and remove the PTO shaft. The PTO shaft goes through the pump. Dave
