Jackson put one side back in like it was if possible then shim the other side to take out the end play in the bearings. They should turn free with no end play. Be sure and pack the bearings with grease. I drilled and tapped 1/8" pipe plugs in the end of the trumpet housing between the seals and run the gl-1 90 wt. gear oil in the bearings. Drill one in the top and one in the side fill to half full or the oil runs out the side hole. I check mine every time I change engine oil and have not had to add any in a hard working tractor for almost a year. Dave

The TO-30 already has inter seals in the trumpet housing and outer seals in the bearing retainer. It is a pretty good job to replace all four seals but it sure stopped the oil leaks and the wet brake shoes. Dave

why not replace the original outer seal sense you will have the axle out and cleaning drums and brake componets? I just finished my TO-20 and it is not difficult... I believe the seals and bearings are the same for the TO-30,but i am sure someone will correct mee if i am wrong.I got parts from davis tractor dot com.shiped fast and received parts in 3 days. sure seal part # is SS92 for a pair $ 8.42 plus shipping. Outer seals and collars for me was $33.00. Good luck with yours.
Jim

I took one side apart I see what you guys mean.I'm going to take the axles to the dealer and let them do them up for me they said they would.I see I had three shims on that side one fell apart. So do I put three back to have the right clearance or will it change for one reason or another.
