Was a live pto an option for the 1958 TO-35?? I've heard of a tractor for sale that has a serial # of s?m 179953. The owner said that it didn't have a live pto. The serial # suggests that it has a live pto, what am I missing?? Thanks in advance.

As I understand it the live PTO was a standard feature on the TO 35 Deluxe model but was not available on the TO 35 Special model.

rockhead - LIve PTO thru 2stage clutch

The TO35 had the option of having live PTO/hydraulics through a 2stage
clutch. If its not running, you can still feel it in the pedal,or pull the inspection cover off the bottom of the
bellhousing and have a look. My '56
TO35 Deluxe has it, and serial number
is preceeded by letters SGM. Some
of the Fergy websites give the serial
number breakdown. The guy I bought
it from didn't know it had 2stage clutch
(kept wondering why the hydraulics wouldn't
work all the time & thought they were shot).
Took me a while myself to learn that the pump
was in the trans rather than off the front of the motor.
