I am trying to find a new hydraulic lift piston and rings for a TO35. The one I have is 2.5 inches in diameter. I have only been able to find 3" pistons. Will a cylinder for a 3" piston fit where a 2.5" cylinder does?. Both the piston and cylinder are heavily scored. I would appreciate any advice.

Gren,

Twice I have replaced 2-1/2" cylinders/pistons with 3" units. They work fine. You may have to drill holes and run bolts through the lift cover but that is easily done.

From what I can find out the 2.5" cylinder is N/L/A so you have to use the 3" type. If you say that the cylinder is heavily scored it needs to be changed anyway. 2.5" pistons are available because they fit the earlier tractor.
