Preston, Here are some quick indicators as to what you have. The serial number plate should be on the stearing coulmn right in front of the steering wheel. There are a bunch of patent No. and a stamped SN at the top or bottom of the plate. I presume this is missing as you probally would have seen it. As you point out the bucket has nothing to do with ID'ing the tractor as there are many aftermarket loaders. Let's start with the bade on the front. If it says Ferguson System then you may have a ford 9N or 2N. If it just says Ferguson, then what is it's shape? If a simple chevron then you most likely have a TE-20, TE(leter)-20, a TO-20 or a TO-30. If the badge more rectuangular in shape and has a "spike" in the middle then you may have a TO-35, or TO-40. Next, As already pointed out. Look at the side of the engine. Most likely you will find a number cast into the Left side of the engine near the bottom. If it reads Z120- Then you have a TE-20 or a TO-20 Z129- TO-30 Z134- TO-35 or TO-40. If no Z### then you may have one of the many TE(leter)-20. There are roughly 15 different letter versions. Assuming you find a Z120. Next look at the stearing column and Gear shift cover plate. If they are one integral piece, then it is a TE-20 and if they are two seperate pieces then you have a TO-20. These two are basicly the same for parts, except for breaks and electrical. Assuming you did not find a Z### then, is it a gasoline fueled tractor and is the oil filter at the left rear of the engine? If so you most, likely have a TEA-20. If a diesel then it is most likely a TEF-20. I assume that you are in the US. If so the likely hood of having a TE(letter)-20 is slim. If outside the US likelyhood of having a TO- is smaller. I hope this helps... Let us know what you have and welcome to the board.
