Just bought an English Ferguson, the clutch pedal is very sticky. It will go in and out of gear but you really have to pull hard on the clutch pedal. Is that rust on the outside or on the pressure plate? Is there any easy quick fix? Thanks, Jim.

It will be the cross-shaft that runs through the clutch housing that is causing the problem, it is sticking in the bushes, they were of a non-lube type and if they get contaminated with oil or grease or fuel they can swell and make the shaft very tight. You will need to remove the engine to get at this. If you need information on how and what to do to take the engine out, I have an information sheet, Email me at:-

tell me what you want & for what tractor and I will mail it straight back with any other information that could be useful, like resetting the governor controls, you will need to do this.
