Thanks to all for sharing the information. I have used this info to find the S/N to my Ferguson tractor. The number on the 2"x3" plate is TO 139096. The question is wether this is a TO 30 or 35 and would this make a difference in maintaing it? The comments on this website stated that TO 35's started 1954 with the 2X3 plates above the steering column with S/N"s starting at 140,000 but the S/N reflects a TO 30 in which the S/N is subposed to be located below the steering wheel.

Hi there...

A TO 20 and a TO 30 is very similar, more or less only the engine is bigger on the latter... same transmission, and that means 4 speed forward, and 1 reverse.
The TO 35 is like any other FE or MF 35,,, a 3 speed transmission, with a high and low range... so it is easy to see if you have just one or two gear levers. One will be a TO 20 or 30, and two means it will be a TO 35.

But, with your serial number, it is clear that you have a 1954 TO 30, a rather late one. Just 904 more was made after yours.
According to my info, the TO 35 started at 140001, and not at 140000. 140000 was the last TO 30.

Hope this helps a bit.

Bill

Steve Y. : The starting serial number for TO-30's
in 1954 was 125958. Possibly you have a 1954 TO-30.I have a 1955 TO-35. Great tractor. Chris.

SN plates for all TO-20/30/35s were on plates above the steering column.

Go to the following site for more complete Ferguson tractor SN information

Steve the serial number on my TO-30 is TO-139039. The TO-30 has a Z-129 engine and the TO-35 has a Z-134 engine. Maybe this info will help you figure it out. Dave
