My to20 is knocking

anybody know if it comman for the to 20 to knock ocasionally,it sounds like a main bearing,but doesnt knock all the time,just at certian rpm,s,i was going to pull the pan and inspect the bearings but thought i would check here first,thanks

It shouldn't knock - ever !!! A loose or worn bearing will knock at various speeds under various loads. My TO30 knocked when running at higher rpms and under no load. It was rod bearings. If the motor knocks under load, it's usually mains. You should get it checked before you do more damage to the crankshaft. Driving it with bad, knocking bearings will eventually pound the shaft out of round and potentially bust something. I know, my crankshaft needed to be turned and was on the edge of no return. If you want to keep the tractor, get it fixed.
