How much tension should be on the clutch pedal at rest? Should there be any at all? Should there be a little play in the pedal before it engages the clutch or should there be pressure on it holding the pedal up tight against the stop??

The free play on the clutch pedal should be 3/8" under the footrest NOT 3/16" which is a misprint in the manual (on the drawing it quotes 3/8" and in the splurge it says 3/16" but the Genuine Factory Service Manual says 3/8") 3/16" is too small to allow for vibrations and heat build up it will cause the bearing to run if it gets too warm.

The shop manual calls for 3/16" free play in the pedal as mesured between the pedal and the radius arm end housing.
