TO30 inline fuel filter

has anyone done this? if so, what parts are needed? and is there anything tricky? my TO30 is requiring frequent carburetor cleanings and I figure this would be a quick fix, prior to cleaning and/or fixing the gas tank...

I use a gas filter on my carburetor fuel supply as well as the filter in the sediment bowl and the "secret filter" in the carb fuel inlet supply elbow. The latter is just a screen for coarse crud. I cut my fuel line underneath the tank away from anything hot, slightly flared the ends and put some fuel hose and clamps on and I use a lawn mower fuel filter that Wal Mart has to filter the fine stuff out of the gas. It's the same filter I use on my B&S wheel line motor so I keep a stock of them on hand. I did this about 3 or 4 years ago and I haven't had any problems with the carb or the filters since then. I still pick up crud in my sediment bowl and I believe it is just dirt collected when this tractor sat in someones barn, unused for twenty years.

Have you checked the existing (hopefully existing) filters, at carb elbow and at sediment bowl?

there's a screen at the sediment bowl

i didn't know there was another filter at the carb elbow - what does it look like?

the filter is a mesh barrell type that fits right onto the elbow that screws into the carb,if you dont have one probably the last guy left it out,it is aprox 1/4 inch round by 3/4 inch long closed in back end ,and saves a lot of trouble
