Gently but firmly pull the whole PTO assembly out.

I used a screw driver in the PTO roll pin hole for a better grip. Should all come out in at once. Firm pull but not forcing anything.

Do I under stand this right... You removed the PTO retainer plate and the PTO shaft is still in the tractor and I assume you are wanting to replace the rear PTO seal.

I am confussed about your three bolts, I understand there are four nuts on studs and two cap screws. Then the PTO should Pull out and the Seal retainer removed. Once the retainer is removed the seal can be driven out with a wooden dowel.

Just did this, it's pretty easy. On a TO-35, remove the three bolts. Put a bar through the hole on the PTO shaft (I used a screwdriver) and gentle pry from either side. The seal retainer is about an inch thick, once it comes out the shaft will just pull out.

Put the PTO selector in Engine PTO to prevent the gear inside from falling down before you do any of the above.

Once you have the seal retainer off, drive the old seal out from it. Be careful driving the new seal in, I wasn't, and ruined the seal.
