My father has a Ferguson tractor that he bought over 50 years ago. He'll be 90 in December. What can you tell me about it?
The serial number is TO-23963. I would personally like to have it restored, but I have no place to keep it after. If he sells it, what kind of value does it have? What is my best way to sell it for him?

Thank you,
Paul Wilander

In my area, farm equipment sells better thru the local Trading Post than it does in the newspaper. The TP allows it to run until it sells, and they have a large farm equipment section. My newspaper mostly has modern farm equipment at high prices, not antique stuff. If tires are good, brakes good, and tractor runs ok and hydraulic lift can be demonstrated with a piece of equipment on it for potential buyers, then you should get a good price, perhaps $2000 or more. Clean it up, crank it, change the oil, check to make sure the radiator is ok and has good coolant, etc., and you will be able to sell it pretty easily. The oil filter is inside the oil pan, perhaps something that might give you some confusion.

YOu have a 1950 TO-20 Tractor. Did he but it new? Valuse can range from $1000 to $3000 based on condition and location. For a good gauge of value watch ebay TO-20 auctions. Note that it may fetch a little more locally.

Good ways to sell are put it up by the road with a sign. Call a local auctioneer. Local paper ad in classified etc.

Where are you located?
