I emailed Pertronix about Ignition systems for the TO20 & TO30 and this is the reply I have just received:-
John, Unfortunately, Pertronix does not have an Ignitor or a replacement distributor for either the 1111722 or the 1111740 Delco distributor. Sorry we can't help with those.

Thank you for asking. Greetings from the USA.

So there you have it, you can get them for the Lucas distributors on the TE20 and the TEA20 but not for Delco types.
Is there any other company that may make a suitable system for these tractors and I could make enquiries from them.

I have had a Pertronix installed on my Delco distributor w/12 V electrical system for over a year and a half now and it's great.

Since my earlier mail regarding Electronic Ignition systems for the TO20 and TO30 tractors. I have been looking around and found that electronic ignition kits are available from this site. Two versions are available, part# 1142P6 for 6 volt positive ground and 1142 for 12 volt negative ground. Both are priced at just over $90 US. Strange part about this is that they appear to be Pertronix units from what bit of the name on the boxes I can read. Anyway, anyone who needs electronic ignition can get it now, no matter what model they have. I hope that you find the information useful.

I agree with you. I purchased mine from this sight and installed it on my 12VDC TO30 with Delco distributor. The only problem I had was that I discovered that the previous owner had install the coil with reversed polarity and had used a 6 volt coil with no series (ballast) resistor. According to the instructions the excess current could haved killed the new ignition. I am very happy with the way the tractor starts and runs (I changed plugs at the same time)but the main incentive for me was that I don"t have to worry about points anymore.

Thank you for that information. Makes you wonder what goes through their minds when they are doing these"repairs" doesn't it. Is it that they just don't know or is it that they try to cut corners to save money. Don't forget to lube your distributor though, because you don't have to check the points anymore means that you could forget this.
