1'st I am constantly amazed about how easy these machines are to work on. I wanted to dress-up the old girl for the Massey show in Plain City this weekend and two bolts later had the hood assembly removed.

While washing the hood prior to painting I discovered that my lower front grill, and doglegs were made of aluminum.

It this the typical material for these parts?

I know that John Uk answered this question awhile back and i think he said only some were aluminium but not all ,i hope he come in to correct me

I have a 52 and a 53 TEA20. One has all steel, and the other (the 52) has a steel top and aluminum doglegs. No idea whether there was a cutoff date in production; of course by now anything might not be original either.

My TED 20, from 1949 has all steel, while the one I bought last week, a TEA 20, 1948 has steel top and aluminum doglegs and the T-part too.. but the grilles are steel.

Confusing huh... the aluminum parts are not in very good condition, so I need to repair them.
