TEA Ferguson Engine

On a whim, without any knowledge of what's what, I bought a TEA Ferguson for my young nephew. As I read it, this stands for "Tractor", "Export" "Aluminum Alloy". It has the aluminum alloy center section. However, someone has cobbled in a Continental Engine in place of the standard "Standard". What should we do now? The side braces to hold the engine to the center section are missing. Front axle support is fitted with a bunch of washers, I guess, so the hood will line up at the back.

Chas, Idont know where you got your info from but TE stands for "tractor England", meaning your tractor was built at Banner Lane, Coventry, England. The "A" means it's a petrol engine, (a TED would mean a petrol/paraffin engine and a TEF would mean a diesel engine. Production of TE tractors began in 1946, and the early ones were fitted with Continental engines imported from the USA. There should be a plate under the steering wheel with a stamped "TEA....., followed by a serial number, you can get the date of build from this. As for your alloy gear box, they were all built likr this. If you need any further info, please E-Mail me.

The TEA stands for "Tractor England" and is a British tractor. The A was the designation for the Petrol Standard engine given by Harry Ferguson. The Continental engine is probably the Z120 - the engines that were put in the TE tractors, it might be worth looking out for a Standard Petrol engine, they are quite easy to find over here in England.

Have TEA w/serial #386857(made in Coventry Eng.)What year was this tractor made?
