Seems no one is answering your questions? I happened to have changed the lift arm stud on my tractor. The stud is threaded and has a large nut on the inside of the gear housing. I blundered along trying to get it out until I pulled the PTO shaft out. With it out, there is enough room to get a half-inch drive socket wrench in and turn the nut. This only works on the right hand side of the tractor(facing forward). The left hand side is blocked by the ring gear. I don't think it can be reached with the top off either. If memory serves me correct the stud shaft is straight and then is threaded. I found one at a local parts man's store of nuts and bolts. It was made in England and it had a tapered shaft that I had to turn down on a lathe in order to use. You want to get the exact replacement if possible and it most likely will come from England. Otherwise, a machine shop will have to make one for you. Another option and the one I used for my left side stud was to make a sleeve to go over the old stud to take up the slack. It involves a lot of filing as the studs as you know are worn flat on one side and are still round on the other. My advice is don't touch the stud until a replacement is found as it may take a while finding one. Also, if a new one is put in, be sure and seal it with RTV or some other sealant, otherwise it will leak quite readily. In the meantime, I will ask the local guy if he has a source for those lift arm studs. Good luck.

Keith thanks for the info. I think Iam going to pull the pto and give it a look. If things look good and I can get parts ,Iam going to remove the left axle housing/differential and replace both studs. If it looks bad I may just rebuild the studs from the outside(weld or make a bushing). Thanks again for the advice.
