To 20 hydraulic pump

I have a To 20 with a hydraulic pump that was working slow. Drained the old oil and removed the hydraulic pump. Flushed the case with kerosene and left overnight as there was some debris in the case. Disassembled the pump and cleaned in up and reinstalled it. Added new oil GL1 90 W. Now it will not pump at all. Thought it might be air locked and forced oil into the system through the plug in the front of the case. Got the 3 pt. to raise all the way to the top and thought I had it. Put in starting the tractor found it not working. So this time i took the top off the case and worked the butpass valve by hand and get no oil to raise up the tube that runs to the 3 pt. The buypass valve was stuck and not slides effortlessly. Any thoughts ??

That valve you are talking about is the Control Valve.If the Control valve is sticking this needs to be fixed, it should fall through the bush under its own weight. You could remove the valve and clean it up and polish it with some fine metal polish. To bleed the Pump you should slacken off the screws that hold the caps in position on the side chambers and run the pump. If you have had the side chamber valves out then possibly they are stuck or not seating properly. There is no need to remove the top cover to work the Control Valve you simply remove one of the side covers and you can move the Control Fork that hangs down from the top and the Control Valve is attached to it. To try and sort out something like this after you have had a go at it can be very difficult as we don't know what you have actually done, it would have been much better if you had come to us before you did anything then we could have told you what to do and then if there was trouble we would know exactly where to look. So it is going to be trial and error till its fixed unfortunately. Have you used new gaskets throughout, if not it can be drawing air. Sorry to be so vague about it but as I said it can be anything as we have no real Idea what you did. try the suggestions above and if you wish, email me at:- fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk

In the meantime email me so I have your address and I will send you straight away, some Information Sheets and parts lists I have that may help you to find the problem while you are doing the above checks, it could also be incorrect assembly too.
