TO-35 Newbie

Well, after bugging the 8N guys and the IH guys on this board about tractors I've looked at, I ended buying what I was after in the first place, a TO-35. Should be delivered in a couple weeks.

It runs real well, and we pulled a 5' brush hog around for awhile without any problems. 140lbs compression across all four, according to the current owner.

It's a bit rough, but does come with the "missing" rear fender, a seat, and the grille, all in OK shape (rotted out toolbox in the fender). New water pump and a few other pieces. Didn't see too much leaking. The oil line to the original gauge is broken, and hence the cobbled on oil gauge to the side. Tach cable is missing as well. I think a day spent sorting out the dash would be time well spent.

With the five foot hog lifted on the back, when shut off it slowly fell, but it wasn't instantaneous...took a minute or so.

Rear wheel hubs don't match...not sure which side is the original.

I was considering the NAA beside it, but the Fergie seems like a more useful machine with the hi-low, live hydraulics and two-stage clutch. Plus I like them. Then again, I'm pretty catholic when it comes to old tractors.

Hope I didn't do too bad! I was so excited I ran away without even copying down the serial number. Doh! I got it with a Woods 5' brush hog and a rear blade.

I just bought my first one last year. I currently have 3 (grin), but at least one needs to be sold. It has a burning oil problem, and the guvner isn't working correctly.

But anyway, I love my 35's. Have a 30 that has been my workhorse for 10 years and just love that tractor. Got the 35 for the live hydraulics and pto. Plus the wife likes the green belly on the early models.

The sheet metal looks good on yours, and you have the important pieces - hood and side panels. The grills and fenders are readily available NOS or aftermarket.

Be on the lookout for lights. A good restored set will set you back $300-400 if the public is bidding against you, but they're well worth it. They're getting rarer and rarer, and the price will only keep going up. I was at a boneyard in Kansas this week and saw some unrestored lights that will need some TLC in their "Ferguson pile". They had parted out most of it, and the sheet metal was all piled up. Place called "Mike's" in Buhler, KS. If you're interested, gimme an email and I'll look up their phone #.

I think the rear pictured is the WRONG hub. I've never seen one like that before.

What is the serial #?

Can you believe I didn't write down the number? The seller is delivering it this week...I was so excited when I left his place I totally forgot.

This seems to be a "deluxe"...or not? It has a tach and other features, but the engine was definitely painted dark green, in those places where the original paint remains.

I'd be interested in locating the right hub, too, assuming the other side is the proper one! I wonder what this is off of?
