i have a problem and i am positive you guys are my answer. i have a te20. when i run my tractor it starts trying to die like it has not fuel. plenty of gas in it. i think it is in the points on the distributer. first of all the tracot has a 12v battery, coil and stater solenoid. but has a 6v generator and starter. the tractor was out of time 90 degrees and got that firgured out. started the tracotr and ran great. About 20 minutes later started acting like it was out of gas. Turn off the pto and it will run, put it in gear or under a load and it dies. the coil, sater soleniod and wiring are all new. I put in new plugs, distrubiter cap, spark plugs wires, re wired the tractor one wire at a time so i knew what went where. i still have nothing. the tractor will turn over but not fire. the is spark at the plugs but not bright blue, it is more red. please hlpe me out, i am going nuts trying to fix this.

Let me add to the "runs 20 minutes and then acts like is running out of fuel" issue.

This is a classic symptom of a blocked breather/Vent hole on your gas cap. This is a gravity fed fuel system and thus as you use fuel the volume in the tank must be replaced with air.

In about 20 minutes you use enough fuel to draw a vacuum on the tank and the fuel flow slows. You are loosing power under load because you are increasing the fuel demand. When you go to no load or idle the fuel flow can keep up with demand.

Thus check the gas cap and make sure the air vent hole is clean.

Checking the screen at the carb. elbow is also a good thing to do every once in a while.

thanks for your input. it is a fuel problem. my needle valve keeps sticking up and not allowing fuel in. i was told the carb is creating to much vacuum after a while and causing the needle to suck up and block the fuel. could this be because of the fuel cap vent.

Yes and no... The carb does not create a vacuum the vacuum is in the fuel tank... Thus the fuel does not push the valve open... This is the same principle as water coolers, if air cannot get in to replace the displaced water then ambiant air pressure hold up the column of water. If the needle valve is sticking on it"s own then the problem woud happen with out any relationship to running time.

It seems to me that you may have a couple of problems besides having a screwed up charging system. Check the fuel delivery by opening the valve at the sediment bowl and holding a coffee can under the drain plug at the bottom of the carb, open the plug. Fuel should come pouring out like a coww peein' on a flat rock and fuel flow should remain high until you turn off the valve. If it doesn't, check the fuel inlet elbow. There's a screen in there and it may be clogged. If that is clear, check the filter in the sediment bowl and look for kinks in the fuel delivery tube. if you have good fuel delivery, you may ave a stuck or partially clogged float valve and you'll have to remove the carburetor to check that. Stuck floats some time rspond to asharp rap on the side of the carb with a chunk of 2x4.
Regarding your ignition system, you said you replaced all the key elements but the condensor. replace that and if you have a voltmeter, measure the voltage at the battery side of the coil. Should be 12 V with the key on. If it's not, find out why. What's the ground on your battery, positive or negative? The 6 V electrical systems were positive ground. Getting the ground wrong will reduce the spark energy significantly. Respectfully, I would suggest that you get a 6 V battery and install itright (positive ground) or change the whole system to 12V/alternator/negative ground but don't use a morphidite system like you have.

Check the Inlet pipe to the carb, at the carb is an elbow that screws into the carb itself in that elbow is a filter, remove it from the carb and clean it out, be careful refitting it so you don't get it cross-threaded. Also check the filter in the fuel tank above the Fuel bowl, just unscrew the whole thing from the tank, get someone to put their finger over the hole while you do all this. Clean the filter and bowl.
