Let me repost this as I sure would like info on this engine...Curosity!
I have a 1950 TO-20 Ferguson, serial number 33992 and engine number 135735 that has the Z-120 engine and someone has ground out the zero and stamped a 9 in it"s place. Apparently there was some company rebuilding them that did this....probably by putting the TO-30 pistons and sleeve kit in them (?) and TO-30 crankshaft (?) bringing the size up to 129 cu. ins. The re-stamp looks professionally done...and I have asked if anyone else on the board had heard of this but, no one seemed to have any knowledge of it. It has the internal oil filter. Can anyone make any comments on this without me having to take off the head and measuring the bore and stroke? It seems really healthy running a 6" bush hog following the MF-35 with a 6"er...it will keep up with it and the 35 has recently been rebuilt with a 1/16" overbore kit in it. It has eaten me up with curosity...any of you fellows more familiar with the mixing of parts know if this is possible? Or know of a company doing this? Thanks, Fred OH

I believe there is a an engine with 85 mm pistons in it and the tractor is called a TE A20-85. Whatever was done to yours, it's still not a Z129 engine as they have the external oil filter and a different head( bigger intake valves). The T0-30 also has some difference in the rear axle, also. What you may have is some sort of modified Z120 with, as you say, Z129 sleeves and pistons. Sorry I can't be of more help but maybe somebody has heard of this modification and will respond to your post.

I have a 1949 TE-20 that has the "0" ground off and a "9" is stamped in it's place. Also curious.

TE20's stopped production in July 1948 and then there was only a TEA20. Both tractors had been made together since August 1947

When I rebuilt my 1951 TO20 I needed a crankshaft so my dad in MO. whent to a tactor junk yard and found two tractors like that all that was changed was the crankshaft. The guy that ran the place said alot of old timers did that, he had seen it quite abit.

Ron...I think the only difference between the 120 and 129 crankshaft that I can see is the 129 has an 1/8" longer throw. Maybe someone will tell us if this is true or not. With that crank and the sleeve and piston kit it would be the same as the TO-30...except that Jerry out in Montana says the TO-30 has a different head by it having larger intake valves. I"d like to know the bore of one with the number altered. Fred OH

Hey Jerry,
I am sorry to jump in on your chat here, But, you said that you had a Ferguson Shop Manual.
My I please ask you a question. I am sure it won't require a manual for a man of your knowlage. I have a 1955 Ferguson TO-35 tractor with a Continental 134 CuIn engine. I would just like to know what the stated HP of that engine is. Also the PTO HP if it is not too much trouble.

Sorry, but my shop manualolny covers the TO and TE-20's and To-30. But I believe that the Z134 has the same compression ratio (6.5) so the horspower should scale with displacement. The TO-30 was tested at Nebraska Tractor Test Station (Test # 466)and developed 30.27 HP(belt) so I'd imagine that the Z134 would be 30.27 x 134/129 = 31.44 HP (belt). That's the best I can do but I'm sure that someone knows the real answer.

I found the answer from a guy that has a manual.
Just for info the Z134 TO-35 has 33 HP.
