Does anhyone know if I can use a flange type front main bearing insert on the TO 30 (Z129)?? The old fiber thrust washer is not available from the local dealer. This washer was in several pieces in the pan anyway, and I don't believe it to be effective. Flanged bearing makes more sense ..

Yes you can use the flanged front main bearing in a TO-30 Z-129 engine. The flange on the bearing is the same thickness as the thrust washer and that washer should have been brass. Make sure when going back together that you shim the end play down to .003" to .007" end play is what the book calls for. Dave
