TO 20 with Z129

The serial # on the dash confirms the tractor is a to 20 however the engine is Z129. There is no external oil filter and I cannot find an oil filter of any type. Is there an oil filter adapter kit that can be installed?

I have a 1950 TO-20 Ferguson, serial number 33992 and engine number 135735 that has the Z-120 engine and someone has ground out the zero and stamped a 9 in it"s place. Apparently there was some company rebuilding them that did this....probably by putting the TO-30 pistons and sleeve kit in them (?) and TO-30 crankshaft (?) bringing the size up to 129 cu. ins. The restamp looks professionally done...and I have asked if anyone else on the board had heard of this but, no one seemed to have any knowledge of it. It has the internal oil filter. Can anyone make any comments on this without me having to take off the head and measuring the bore and stroke? It seems really healthy running a 6" bush hog following the MF-35 with a 6"er...it will keep up with it and the 35 has recently been rebuilt with a 1/16" overbore kit in it. It has eaten me up with curosity...any of you fellows more familiar with the mixing of parts know if this is possible? Fred OH

As noted by others, no external oil filter would seem to indicate a Z120 engine, not a Z129. Perhaps the serial on the dash is correct, and one of two things has happened: either you misread the last digit of the number on the engine, or at some point in the past someone has replaced the plate on the engine with one from a TO-30, for whatever reason. I've never seen that, but I have seen the plate on the dash be from a different tractor (when steering box had been replaced) so I guess it's possible.

If there is NO external filter the the filter is insider that big round plate under the oil pan. Your engine is a Z120 a Z129 has an external filter. There is no kit for fitting an external filter that I have seen.

The oil filter is inside the oil pan. You have a plate on the bottom of the oil pan you remove to change the filter.
