Need to pick your guys brains yet again. I have a 51 TO20. Runs great. Has a Freeman loader on the front hooked into the bypass (thinks that"s what it"s called) under the seat with a shut off valve. Now the problem. The loader won"t lift a very heavy load (I know to chain the lift arms down to make this work). I can shut the valve to the loader,unchain the lift arms and the Hydraulics don"t want to lift the bush hog or if they do it"s not very high only like a foot or so. I"ve drained the oil and put in 6 gal of new GL1. No improvement. Now the strange part. With the hydraulics in the up position I can back into an embankment causing the bush hog to raise up and it will hold there. Most times it takes several hours for the hydraulics to leak off and the bush hog to come down. Other then that it"s a great little tractor. I figured I didn"t get hurt too bad on the deal since I only gave $1,500.00 for it with the loader and the bush hog. Pulls the bush hog fine, cuts great just no lift. Any ideas?

You just have a loss of pressure thats all, most likely cause is that you leave the lever in the pumping position when the loader gets to the top and leave it there pumping and blowing the safety valve, consequence is now that you have a reduced oil pressure so it won't lift as much as it did do.This will apply to the rear linkage as well as the loader as they use the same pump. The fact that it doesn't drop is good as that proves there is no leak on the system.Obviously then there isn't enough pressure to lift anything and that could be caused by the safety valve needing a change OR the pump ready for overhaul.
