I have a TE-20 and I want to disengage the shifter starter and rewire into a regular switch... any ideas? Thanks

Not a good idea! You will be removing an essential safety device ( the nuetral start) which was originally fitted because Henry Ford once demonstrated how easy it was to electric start a tractor and it started in gear and ran over his foot!
Luckily it was only his foot as he was standing beside it to turn the key.
These things can be dangerous enough in the wrong hands without helping them to be more so. Be careful out there.

Robin,
I appreciate the saftey concern, however it gets accidentally shifted into the starting mode and hence I have to get the starter rebuilt and getting my foot run over is alot less painful than the bill for rebuilding the starter~
