I got my pump out and i noticed the oscating part of the control valve was not there Will the pump work without it there? If not where can I get one. the problem I have is the arms would not pick up anything heavy and would take for ever to go down .one of the pins was missing from the part that goes to the control valve, so it was binding some ,you could see where it was rubing. any knowledge would be greatly appeceated

Mike,

I have a complete hydraulic pump here from a TO 30. If you want to email me direct at resden@tcei.com with an exact description of what you need, I will check to see if I have your parts!

The pump will work without the Oscillator in fact a lot of tractors don't have this in anyway. You should have found out where the problem lay before you took the pump out as you can't do anything with it now till you know what is wrong, it may not be the Pump at all, it could be the piston rings or maybe just a gasket. You say a pin had come out of the Control Fork, well that would have some effect on the Hydraulics and could cause your problem by not allowing the Control Valve to move to the lower position due to the pin being missing and because of this the Control Fork not moving as far as it should. Not lifting weight would not be due to that. You need to replace the Pin in the Control Fork and reassemble the tractor and try it out, if it works then, fine, if it doesn't you then have to find out where the pressure loss is, until you know that you can't repair it. If you completely restore the Pump it still may not be right, you have to find the loss. If you would like more information to help you with this email me at :- fergusontractors at tiscali do co dot uk
and I will send you information and tell you what and where to look for the leak.

Control Valves are available for this tractor, Massey-Ferguson Part number is 181-163M1 price $24.51 from this site. You can also get these from Sparex through your local tractor dealer Sparex number S60057. To see the posting on this site try:->Link
The oil you need is to GL1 spec. 90 weight. Shell Dentax is supposed to be GL1 but there are others available from various places, NAPA, maybe your local auto store has it or can get it for you, the prices vary greatly for the oil. I don't know what grade that Hy-tran is so I can't comment on that. But GL1 specification is what you need.If you email me at fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk I will send you more info about the oil and the hydraulics too, just let me know what you are needing when you mail though because I may not remember this particular mail as I get so many now. Terrible job if you get a twisted PTO, I don't envy you at all with that.
