TO-35 lower lift arm

I broke the left lower lift arm Saturday on my 1955 TO-35. All of the replacement arms I can find only have one hole in the center where the lift rod attatches. My rod has three so you can adjust it. With the one hole arm the ball sockets hit the ground with the lift down and don't raise as high as it did. Does anyone know if somebody makes or sells the arms with three holes? Mine has been welded one time too many already! Thanks, Daniel. PS: mine are 32" center to center in the balls.

Those lift arms are generally a set length. The ones I have seen all have just one hole to lift with. If your arms are going all the way to the ground, then someone may have lengthened the rods that pick up the lift arms. This may have all been for some special 3 point equipement that had to be lifted higher or some home made contraption that someone had. As the previous comment stated the lift arms are generally made out of alloy steel and are tough to drill. They will "smoke" a drill bit quite nicely. If you have to drill, get a cobalt bit and keep it cool as possible.

Hello Daniel -

The problem sounds as if the lift rod and levelling box have been replaced at some time past with longer ones.

There are at least three different length combinations for the different sized tractors. Our 35 rods are about 21 1/2" overall from the top arm pin to the bolt in the lift arm.

None of the replacement arms I've seen have 3 holes, and the steel in those arms is VERY hard to drill!

My ford 2N has the same on the right side.
I replaced the left with a new one and It did
not have the three holes. I have only ever used the center holes.
I think I still have the old one. Except for the balls being loose I think it was in good shape.
I will check the length. If it's 32 in you can have it for the shipping. You will probably have to get new ends welded on.
